At no point during the year are the needs of others more evident than the holiday season. Many members of our community remain out of work or underemployed. Others struggle to pay their utility bills, purchase groceries or provide the simplest gifts to their children and loved ones. The attorneys at Casey, Devoti & Brockland believe each person deserves the dignity of a happy and healthy holiday season, so we decided to take action.
In December 2022, our firm worked alongside the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis for the Motion for Kids annual holiday party. Motion for Kids hosts this event for up to 2,500 St. Louis-area children in the foster care system or those whose lives have been severely impacted by the criminal justice system.
Together, we made 3,500 sandwiches for children and families attending the party. The party did not stop there — Motion for Kids paired each child in attendance with sponsors from the St. Louis legal community who provided two gifts from their wish list. Other holiday party activities included arts and crafts, games, books, refreshments, live entertainment and, of course, a photograph with Santa Claus.
Casey, Devoti & Brockland dedicates time to serving the St. Louis community in any way we can. Working alongside the Bar Association of St. Louis, of which Anne Brockland currently serves as president, was truly a rewarding experience.
This year, we would love to use our platform to raise awareness for causes near and dear to our hearts. For all those interested in helping Motion for Kids, visit BAMSL’s website for outreach and fundraising opportunities.
