Matt Devoti Teaches Nonprofit Management Class at UMSL

Casey & Devoti is pleased to announce that Partner Matt Devoti will help teach a class sponsored by the Nonprofit Management and Leadership Program at the University of Missouri St. Louis.

The class, titled “Legal Issues Related to Volunteer Management”, will address how legal regulations impact nonprofit organizations and, specifically, how regulations relate to the use and oversight of volunteers.  As both a personal injury litigator and a community volunteer sitting on two nonprofit boards, Matt brings a unique perspective to the class. He will offer his insight on the liability of nonprofit organizations and volunteers, legal protection for volunteers, and the use of and validity of waivers and releases. The class will be held on Friday, March 24th at the J.C. Penney Conference Center on the UM-St. Louis campus.

In addition to his 20-year legal career, Matt has been a member of the board of directors of Saint Martha’s Hall, a shelter for abused women and their children, since 2012. He has also been a member of the board of directors of the Gateway Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation since 2012 and currently serves as board president.
